James wins Fuchs Award, Kelly receives Montalbano Award PDF Print E-mail
The Boston Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of American has named Boston Red Sox senior advisor/baseball operations Bill James the 2009 winner of the Judge Emil Fuchs Memorial Award.
 
The Boston baseball writers also announced Red Sox pitcher Casey Kelly as the winner of the Greg Montalbano Award for Sox minor league player of the year.
 
Previous winners of the Fuchs Award, which honors long and meritorious service to baseball, include Henry Aaron, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, Red Sox Hall of Fame outfielder Jim Rice, union leader Marvin Miller and broadcaster Ernie Harwell, among others.
 
James will be on hand to accept the award at the Boston BBWAA awards dinner on Thursday, January 14 at the Westin Waterfront in Boston. Tickets, which include a  are available for $150 each by sending a check to Boston Chapter BBWAA, PO Box 7346, Nashua, NH 03060.
